Kevin Calhoun, MD, is a primary care physician at Peninsula Healthcare Center in Torrance, California. Dr. Calhoun earned his bachelor’s degree in psychobiology at the University of California Los Angeles before staying on campus to earn his doctorate. He then traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana, to complete an anesthesia program at Tulane University, where he also participated in the clinical base year for anesthesia residents. Dr. Calhoun is certified by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. Shelly Calhoun, MSN, FNP-C, PHN, is a certified family nurse practitioner at Peninsula Healthcare Center in Torrance, California. She then earned a master’s degree to become a family nurse practitioner at the United States University in Chula Vista, California. Shelly is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Bringing extensive experience to Peninsula Healthcare Center, Shelly has worked in California, holding various healthcare roles, including a med-surgical nurse, urgent care clinical team leader, case manager, and occupational healthcare director. Her work experience includes preparing case management reports for insurance companies in the workers’ compensation industry, managing health plans for patients with special needs, and reviewing health facilities to ensure compliance with the Department of Health Services for Managed Medical Services throughout the Los Angeles, California area.
